A picture paints a thousand words

First advertA picture paints a thousand words, may well be a well known saying, but sometimes the blindingly obvious gets missed!  I posted an advert on a local Facebook page on Monday and got no response, but a day later posted another advert and received a number of responses within 10 minutes; so what was the difference?

Second advertAt the time of placing the first advert I didn’t have a photograph, whereas the second advert included a image of the fish tank. I had also subtly changed the wording of the advert, ensuring the word FREE was prominent, but think the inclusion of a visual image was responsible for the success of the advert.

OK, I was not selling anything and simply wanted to give away an item, but it just goes to show the power of visual stimulation, in terms of advertising and marketing.

Although this might seem blindingly obvious, it’s worth revisiting your marketing collateral to ensure it has a visual impact that will catch the readers eye.
